Apple Pie - Jodi

 Apple Pie


Single pie crust:

1 ½ C all purpose flour

½ tsp salt

1/2C shortening

4-5 TBSP Cold water

Stir together flour and salt. Cut in shortening with pastry blade until pieces are the size of small peas. Sprinkle water over the top one TBSP at a time, tossing after each addition.

Form ball. Flatten dough, Roll to 1/8in thick


Pie Filling:

6-8 granny smith apple

1 ½ tsp cinnamon

2 TBSP lemon juice

1 C sugar

¼ C flour


Cut apples into small, thin pieces, mix all ingredients together and put in pie crust.


Crumble Topping:

1C Flour

½ C softened butter

1/2C brown sugar

Cinnamon

Place all in a bag/bowl and mix until crumbly. Place on top of apples


Place pie in brown grocery bag. Cut slits in the bag and fold under the ends. Put bag on cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 1 ½ hours. Do not Peek!
